  • Currency and Banks +

There are no banks or bank/debit machines on Mustique. The currency here is Eastern Caribbean dollars with a rate of around 2.7 to the US$. You can bring US$ or EC$ which are accepted everywhere. The Firefly also accepts £ Sterling. Credit cards are accepted everywhere. The Firefly only accepts Visa and MasterCard.
  • Mosquitoes & Indigenous Wild Life +

As in all tropical countries there are mosquitoes on Mustique. Generally they are not a problem and diseases such as Malaria are non-existent. There are no dangerous animals, fish or sharks in or around Mustique. The most common thing you will see are our red legged tortoises.
  • What do I need to know about tipping? +

Gratuities are always gratefully accepted however there is no need for tipping unless you feel a particular member of staff has given you service above and beyond your normal expectancy. If you do wish to tip all the staff you can include the tip on your credit card when you settle your account when checking out. That way all the staff (including the dishwasher) who have contributed to your stay with us get rewarded.
  • Are drinks included? +

We serve complimentary juices with breakfast. Otherwise we charge for all drinks. Generally speaking, establishments that serve high end wines and Champagnes (we have some wines over a $1000 a bottle) are never going to offer "drinks included". The only type of hotel that does that would be a "resort hotel" serving cheap generic brands of wine where if you drank all day it would only cost them a few dollars and cost you a hangover!
Cocktails and wine are expensive on Mustique due to the high import taxes imposed. Firefly is probably best priced because we are the busiest on the island and turnover more. Cocktails are about US$12 and a bottle of wine from US$50 upwards.
  • Are you on the beach? +

No, 95% of the homes on Mustique are overlooking the beach on a hill or hillside to take advantage of the cooling breezes. It’s great to lay on the beach and cool off in the sea but once you want to relax on your terrace or poolside it is much better to be “catching the breeze”. Also the sand flies usually make their appearance after 4pm and will invade the areas close by.
  • How far are you from the beach? +

The Firefly is situated on a hill about a hundred yards from the beach.
  • How far are the other beaches? +

The island is only 3 miles by ¾ and most of the beaches are within a five minute ride or a twenty minute walk (if you are feeling energetic!)
  • Can we have service on the beach? +

We can deliver drinks and set up a picnic for you anywhere on the island. There are shaded cabanas on every beach. You can pre-order or use the cell phone provided by us.
  • What do you supply for us to take to the beach? +

Anything you want…Ice chest, drinks, snacks, picnics, pizza, towels, beach chairs, snorkels, fins, Frisbee, volley ball, bat & ball etc.
  • Can we reserve a cabana/table on the beach? +

    Yes you can.
  • Is there good snorkelling on Mustique? +

There is great snorkelling. The best is right below the Firefly in Britannia Bay where the remains of the old “Snorkelling Hut” are. We supply fins and snorkels at the hotel.
  • Ferry & Boats +

There is no ferry or boat service from Barbados or St Lucia to Mustique.
Between St. Vincent & Mustique a ferry runs on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday (& the first Wednesday of the month)
The Mustique Ferry leaves Mustique to go to St. Vincent at 7.30a.m. and returns from St Vincent leaving at 2pm
Journey time 90 minutes Approximately US$12 each way.

Speed boats and sail boats can be chartered to go to most islands in the Grenadines. Cost will vary.

  • Can we get vegetarian meals? +

Both the owners are vegetarian (Liz is Vegan) and a fully comprehensive imaginative special vegetarian menu is always available alongside our normal menus at no extra charge.
  • Wi-Fi & Cell phones +

There is free Wi-Fi in all rooms, lounge/bar and poolside. There is cell phone coverage over most of the island.
  • Electric Appliances +

The voltage here is 220-240. 50 cycles. There are UK power sockets with three straight pins. If you are from the UK – Great!
If not, you need an ordinary travel adaptor to connect chargers for cell phones, laptops, I-pads etc. We supply hairdryers and hair flat irons. There is also a universal shaving socket in the bathroom.
  • Driving on Mustique +

If you wish to hire a vehicle please let us know as soon as possible as they are limited. You will also need a Mustique Driver’s License available from Immigration on arrival.
